Hot days are not good for brewing, and more than a hundred years ago the winemaker at the Iron Anchor winery domesticated the delicate yeast, allowing them to work properly in warm California. In tribute to the disappearing label, the 147-year-old Iron Anchor winery shut down in July 2023.
